Benedict's Law September 2026
All primary schools in England need to be allergy ready from September 2026!
1 in 13
children live with a diagnosed allergy in the UK - That's around 2 children in every classroom.
Natasha's Foundation, July 202616,764
Primary schools in England have to be ready, trained and compliant with Benedict's Law by September 2026.
Department for Education, March 20261 in 3
children with food allergies in the UK report being bullied because of their condition.
Anaphylaxia UK, July 2026Why involve the pupils and not just train staff?
Allergy awareness needs to be embedded in all areas of the curriculum, coupled with compliance with Benedict's Law, to achieve a whole school approach.
Staff compliance training won't change children's perceptions of allergies.
Pupils are where the risk usually lives. Not only are 1 in 3 allergic pupils reporting bullying linked to their allergies, they are also the ones sitting together at lunch tables, sharing celebrations that centre around food and spending time with each other.
This is where my workshops help out. I focus on raising awareness and interest in allergies with children. Because children who understand allergies help us create safer spaces for every child. I achieve this via in person visits where I conduct differentiated and immersive sessions that are mapped against the national curriculum attainment targets.

This is personal, not just professional!
One of my grandchildren has a food allergy and wherever we go we carry a backpack with autoinjectors and medicines. I wanted to write an adventure story that raises awareness of food allergy safety especially at social events that centre around food.

The children were completely engaged from start to finish. Zeb and Jet made allergy awareness feel natural and fun rather than scary.
